Welcome to the latest issue of the Medical Technology magazine

As 2024 draws to a close, we pause to reflect on a year of remarkable change, challenges, and breakthroughs in the medical device industry. This issue is a celebration of that journey—a thoughtful review of the year that not only highlights the events and shifts that have defined the industry but also looks ahead at the trends that will continue to shape the sector next year.

In addition to the top stories of 2024, we look at what is next for prostate cancer detection technologies, with a feature highlighting innovation in the space. We also explore how recent government election outcomes could have implications for medical device pricing and discuss how decentralisation can fill the gaps in Alzheimer’s research.

Furthermore, we turn our attention to how automation can be boosted in robotic surgery with artificial intelligence (AI).

We hope you enjoy this special issue and that it sparks thoughtful reflection on the year gone by, as well as excitement for what lies ahead. As always, we are grateful for your continued support and curiosity.
