 Bionic pancreas given FDA Breakthrough Device designation

Medtech company Beta Bionics has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation for its automated bionic pancreas – the iLet Bionic Pancreas System. The iLet Bionic Pancreas System is a pocket-sized, wearable investigational medical device that is designed to autonomously control blood-sugar levels.

 Robotic device supports patients with spinal cord injury

A robotic trunk support device has been used to help patients with spinal cord injuries (SCIs) sit more stably. The Trunk-Support Trainer can be used to assist and train people with SCIs to sit more stably by improving their core control, allowing them to gain an expanded sitting workspace around their body of around 25%.

 PET scan allows for earlier intervention after heart attack

Research from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging indicates that a new form of positron emission tomography scanning can effectively image fibroblast activation after a heart attack.
