$12 trillion

Global healthcare spend is estimated to have increased by 40% since 2018 to reach $12 trillion in 2022, as per the World Economic Forum.

2.8%

As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 36 or 2.8% of eight-year-olds in the US have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a figure that is higher than previously estimated.

4.5 million

A new report from the United Nations (UN) shows that over 4.5 million women and babies die every year during pregnancy, childbirth or the first weeks after birth. This is equivalent to 1 death happening every 7 seconds - mostly from preventable or treatable causes if proper care was available.

13.4 million

An estimated 13.4 million babies were born pre-term in 2020, with nearly 1 million dying from preterm complications, according to a new report released by UN agencies and partners. This is equivalent to around 1 in 10 babies born early (before 37 weeks of pregnancy) worldwide.

60%

Recent data shows that only about 60 per cent of women aged 15-49 years make their own decisions regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights. Improving maternal and newborn health further requires addressing harmful gender norms, biases, and inequalities.
