SPECIAL ISSUE // YEARBOOK 2020

Welcome to our special yearbook edition of Medical Technology. It’s been an interesting year to say the least; the last 12 months have brought with them challenges that have tested global healthcare systems to their limits and tasked device manufacturers with finding new and innovative ways to assist healthcare professionals amid a wave of changing symptoms, demands and working conditions.

With that said, the industry certainly pulled together to combat issues as they arose, and as we head towards a new year progress in Covid-19 testing and treatments present a light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

To celebrate notable developments in medical technology this year, we have compiled a round-up of the best and most interesting features we have published in the magazine in 2020, including the rise of implants in the ‘biohacking’ movement, repurposing technology to help combat Covid-19, racial discrimination in the AI systems used to aid medical decisions, extending the liver transplant window, and the future of telemedicine beyond 2020.

You can find all this and more in this special issue of Medical Technology. Thank you. Stay safe.
