Stryker buys out Nico Corporation to expand stroke care arm

Michigan-based medical device giant Stryker has closed a deal to acquire the Nico Corporation. Stryker has confirmed that they have acquired the Indianapolis-based company, including the company’s systems designed to manage surgeries to treat intracerebral haemorrhages (ICH), dubbed BrainPath and Myriad. Myriad was granted market clearance by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) back in 2017. 

Inflammatix secures $57m to advance TriVerity test

Inflammatix has secured $57m in a Series E financing round to advance its TriVerity acute infection and sepsis test. Led by Khosla Ventures and Think.Health, the investment aims to support the regulatory filing and early commercialisation of the test, which is designed to address the critical need in the emergency department (ED) setting. 

Spinal surgery company Neo Medical wins $68m to expand US business

Swiss spine technology company Neo Medical has raised $68m in a Series B funding round to expand its portfolio of surgical technologies across the US. Led by Gyrus Capital and existing investors Vincent Lefauconnier and Jonas Larsson, the funding will be used to increase the Lausanne-headquartered business’ market share in key regions beyond Europe, with an immediate focus on expanding its US business.

Mendaera wins $73m to advance handheld AI robotics system

Silicon Valley-based firm Mendaera has secured $73m to advance its handheld needle-based robot technology into areas of surgery such as biopsies, organ and vascular access, and pain management interventions. The new robotic platform ie being developed to more broadly integrate artificial intelligence (AI), real-time imaging, and virtual connectivity to assist with everyday medical procedures.
